there’s always tomorrow, stop fighting yesterday

Today the featured video is Gloria Estefan, Always Tomorrow. After all, that is what being a survivor is. Isn’t it? Think about the “tomorrow” you had after you faced death the day before. There was a chance that you would have no more tomorrows, but you did. What will you do with all the tomorrows that are still yet to come?

“Try to make a difference, try to love, try to understand
Instead of just giving up I’d use the power at my command But there’s always tomorrow to start over again
Things will never stay the same the only one sure thing is change
That’s why there’s always tomorrow”

We all start over again. We have the ability to learn a new way of living our lives. We have the ability to heal but not the promise we will just automatically receive it. Scratches will heal over time. Some wounds are too deep to heal on their own. With the right care and attention, they do.

I am never sure why people spend so much time fighting against yesterday when none of us can change a thing that already happened. It doesn’t make any sense to try, but we all do. Isn’t it better to fight for what is possible in your own life tomorrow?

When I was young, my Mom told me that I was fighting too many battles, and not winning any of them. She said I should just pick one and give it all I had to give. She was right. Now, if something is important, I’ll fight for it and give it everything I have. What is not that important I just let it go.

You need to fight for yourself to have better tomorrows and try to stop running through what you think could have happened like you were a movie director in your own life. They can cut the filming off, get in a stuntman, redo scenes and plan things out. They can even get the script changed. You cannot do any of that with what has already happened. It is time to fight for your own life and the way you want your tomorrows to be.

You survived what caused PTSD and it is time to defeat it by using the power you do have for all the tomorrows to come.

Remember, it’s your life…get in and drive it!
