Why Can’t God Do It All?

Why Can’t God Do It All?

If you’re thinking about Matthew 19:But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible,” and are ready to just move on from this post, you may want to read a little more.

The word “possible” does not mean it will happen. It means it can. Simple humans, such as we, become very disappointed when we believe God can do it all, but He doesn’t. We end up wondering why He didn’t do what we needed Him to do. Then we doubt He can, or, even wants to.

Really depressing when we don’t actually think about everything else we know about God and Jesus from the Bible. Start with the simple fact that Jesus asked simple fisherman to help Him spread the message from His Father to the people. He asked for help to do it because He couldn’t do it all by Himself.

Why did He select twelve men to help Him? Matthew 19 actually answers that one too.

So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

Matthew 19:28-30

Did it have to be twelve? Yes. After Judas committed suicide, he was replaced. Matthias became the twelfth. Judas used his freewill to do what he did even though his actions betrayed the One he was supposed to love.

There is always involvement from us needed to deliver what God wants to do. Sure, some things He can just do on His own, but anything involving freewill requires our will participation. What if the twelve denied the request from Jesus to help Him? I believe God already knew they would do as they were asked.

Now, think about what you pray for. Safe bet most of your prayers require the action of others to help deliver the answer to your prayers. God lets people know what He wants them to do. They are free to do what they are tugged to do, or to ignore it and walk away from the person they were supposed to help. When they do that, God has to replace them, the same way He had to replace Judas with Matthias.

If you have PTSD, you know what it was like to suffer, but you also know what it was like for some stranger to show up to help you begin to recover from what happened to you. They either chose their job because they were tugged to do so, or minding their own business, but were led to help you for no other reason than you needed help and they could help. Above all, they wanted to help.

Ever wonder where that tug came from? Hopefully now you know the answer.

You may be praying for help to heal PTSD even more right now. You keep hoping, waiting, asking and praying because you believe there is still hope for you. That hope is being fueled by God. Even now, after all these years. I still struggle when people show up to help me, because I believe God sent them to help me, but they end up walking away. Mostly, I blame them, but honestly, I wonder what is wrong with me that they refuse to help me after God asked them to. Sooner or later, I push those thoughts out of my head and I realize they were not just saying they wouldn’t help me, but they wouldn’t help God too.

I can assure you that the help you need is out there. The fact you’re reading this right now shows that you are being led to where you need to be to find what you’re been praying for. Do not stop with this site. Keep searching, praying and asking for help. If someone didn’t help you before, God will send someone else. That is what it means by “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

The really awesome thing about healing is when you deliver the answer to the prayers of others when they need help too. Search and share what you find that helps you. Reach out your hand to help someone else and know what it is like to become part of a miracle!

If you are a reader, and this makes sense to you now, try reading The Lost Son series I wrote about what it is like for prayers to be answered, people saying they will help and do. The one who was helped, helped the world find hope again too!
