Deadly ending for Mental Health Awareness Month

Nineteen children and two teachers were slaughtered in a Texas elementary school. As bad as that is, hearing elected officials defend the NRA instead of these children born into this world, they claim to value so much, they turned around to blame people with mental health problems. Yes, once again, those struggling with mental health are an easy target.

What can we expect when Ted Cruz couldn’t bring it on himself to blame the fact that anyone can get their hands on an AR15, as pointed out by Sky News Mark Stone“A violent psychopath who’s able to get a weapon so easily. An 18-year-old with two AR-15s.”

It got worse as Cruz did more interviews.

Cruz continued to say that targeting felons and fugitives and those with mental illness is a more effective strategy in preventing crime.

Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) also had choice words for Cruz, tweeting at the Texas senator, “F— you @tedcruz you care about a fetus but will let our children get slaughtered. Just get your ass to Cancun. You are useless.”

The Hill

So the ability for anyone to get their hands on weapons intended to kill a lot of people really fast isn’t the problem? The ability to access these guns is greater than the ability to access mental healthcare isn’t the problem? Turning these mass murders into something only people with mental health problems do, is part of the problem along with people like Cruz.

Here are examples of people who will be dealing with mental health issues for years if not decades to come. What they will be dealing with is something we know all too well. PTSD and the children in school that day, will also pay the price. So will this hero Mom!

A mother who was handcuffed outside the Texas school shooting later ran into the school and pulled her two children to safety: report

According to The Journal, Gomez was put in handcuffs by federal marshals for “intervening in an active crime scene,” as she and other parents demanded officers enter the school. Gomez persuaded Uvalde law enforcement officers to release her, and she moved away from the crowd.

Gomez then hopped the school fence, sprinted inside the school to grab her children and made it out of the school with them alive.

Another parent was pepper-sprayed as he attempted to get into the school, and a father was tackled by authorities, Gomez told The Journal.

Turns out that she was a lot braver than the “good guys” with guns trying to stop her from doing what she felt she was compelled to do, save her children! Cruz on the other hand cannot even risk the money the NRA pays him to stand up for the rights of other to live. Just goes to show that he likes to take the easy way out and protect the unborn as long as he doesn’t have to do a damn thing once they are here.

So there you have how this Mental Health Awareness Month went. Next month it is PTSD Awareness Month and we are set to increase the size of this group no one wants to be a member of.
